SHELTER LOGIC

West of two

once mighty rivers

now chemically altered torpid shallow

– there’s Villegreen

sleepy hollow of the soul

peculiar stale subcultural Hood

mutant triangular nugget embedded

in a sprawling circular servicetoself

academic tech Estancia

day after day

\ above the muted underground

electric mystery hum   -people go about their business

as would be expected

– shopping                 mothers push strollers

fuss at eight year old Ricky for running a redlite

on foot

trucks unloading wares

some corner Brothers – hack man hack man

get a hack…

lusaaay lusaaay

got lusaaayz…

9 p.m.

half mile north

of the triangle’s western apex

five friends         – freshman –

three male           two female

alcohol buzzed \

see a short concrete rotunda like structure

without dome

situated S.E. corner

separated from other dwellings

by a huge empty dirt lot

approaching closer

they notice no doors or windows

only one undecipherable marking

top center of this curious small building –

suddenly dazed and numb

they find themselves

inside a vast space   – perspective gone

filled with halogen type illumination

– how can this be !

it’s too small !

In translucent lab coat

bipedal mantid

stands in front of suspended mini plasma screen

vocalizes loud clicking sound

then –

no screen    no mantis

the five students were never seen

or heard from

again

About a. edward watkins

With the exception of 2 years study of western music theory and harmony- I am a self taught percussionist, writer and abstract painter. Not your drummer boy drummer - not your writerly writer nor the painterly painter. Creativity is an integral aspect of my existence - as it is for us all - in some form or another. My experiences in life have informed and shaped my world view profoundly. I am the disrupter - the never quite satisfied - the relentless creator of word, sound and image. I question the answers and question the questions.
